Design and print badges

Badges help staff and guests recognise each other at your event. You can design one shared badge template for the whole event, turn badge printing on, and each guest gets a personal badge (name, organisation, tier) that prints the moment they check in.

  1. Turn on badge printing for the event in the event settings.
  2. Design the badge template in the drag-and-drop editor — a default template is provided for you to edit.
  3. Send tickets to guests — a personal badge is generated for each guest the moment their ticket is sent.
  4. Print at the door — when staff scan a code and the check-in succeeds, a Print button appears to print that guest’s badge.

In the event detail page, under settings, turn on the badge printing option. Once enabled, a new Badge design tab appears so you can compose the template.

Open the Badge design tab inside the event page. If the event has no badge template yet, you will see a Create badge template button. Click it and the system seeds a default template — already filled with the standard fields, ready for you to tweak.

The default template contains these lines, stacked vertically on a portrait badge:

  • Event name — shows the event name.
  • Guest name — the guest’s full name, in large type.
  • Organisation — the guest’s company or organisation.
  • Ticket tier — the guest’s ticket tier (for example: VIP, standard).

The editor lets you:

  • Drag and drop content blocks (text, image) onto the badge canvas.
  • Change text colour, background colour, font size, and alignment for each block.
  • Preview the badge on screen at the exact print size.

When you are happy with the design, click Save to apply it. If you remove every block from the badge, the Save button is disabled because an empty badge would print a blank page.

Badges are pre-generated when tickets are sent

Section titled “Badges are pre-generated when tickets are sent”

When you issue tickets to guests and the ticket emails go out, the system automatically generates a personal badge for each guest based on the template you saved. Each guest’s badge carries their own details (name, organisation, tier), so no manual editing is needed.

This means that by the time a guest arrives at the door, their badge is already ready to print immediately, even on a weak connection.

When staff scan a guest’s code and the check-in succeeds, the result screen shows a Print badge button. Click it to print the badge for the guest who was just admitted.

The print flow works like this:

  1. Staff scan the code — result: Check-in successful.
  2. The screen shows the Print badge button.
  3. Staff click Print badge — the browser or printer print dialog opens.
  4. Choose the printer and confirm to print the badge.

If the door device loses its connection, or the printer is not connected, the system still behaves sensibly:

  • Badge already downloaded to the device — it still prints normally from the copy saved on the device.
  • Badge not yet downloaded (fully offline) — the screen shows a queued state. The badge will reprint automatically when the device is back online, or staff can tap the Print button again once the network returns.
  • Browser blocks the print dialog — the system opens the badge image in a new tab so staff can print it manually.

You can also reprint any guest’s badge from the check-in management screen — useful when you need to print a replacement, reprint a torn badge, or print for a guest who checked in before the printer was ready.
